When I sat down to write about our good friends Days In May, it made
me remember the reason I got into music journalism in the first place. This job is (or at least should be) all
about helping artists to promote their music. It is such an easy concept, but too often people think only of the already
nationally recognized artists they hear on the radio. We tend to forget that those bands have come a long way to get
where they are, and all were at one time a "local artist." Supporting local musicians is an important part of the music
scene here in Raleigh, NC and we would like to tell all of our readers about some of our hometown heroes.......Days In May.
One of the most popular sub-genres in rock music today is pop-punk.
Bands like All Time Low, We The Kings, Hit The Lights and more are packing shows with legions of fans these days, and
this is a path that Lance, Scott and Tim from Days In May are eager to walk down. They are definitely motivated to make
music a central focus of their lives and have the talent and drive to do just that. What strikes us most about this
young trio is the sincerity of the music they make. Their songs are straight from the heart and very easy to relate
to. I have heard them say more than once how important their songs are to them, and it is apparent to anyone who hears
them perform. If all of the above weren't enough to draw you in, the music they make is fun and romantic with a side
of dance party thrown in for good measure. It doesn't hurt that they are also a bunch of good-looking young guys.
If that one factor brought more fans their way, I am confident in saying those people would find much more under the surface.
We had the pleasure of sitting down for an interview with Lance Carrier
and Scott Hill for an interview recently to talk about their rising career. You can hear the full audio interview below,
and also see a recent video we shot of an improptu acoustic performance by the guys themselves. When you start hearing
the words "Days In May" on the lips of music fans everywhere just remember.....you heard it here first.
