Women in rock. For me, that has always been a powerful statement.
In a genre of music that is typically dominated by testosterone, any woman who can break the barrier and make a name for herself
is a force to be reckoned with. While there are definitely some exceptional female rockers that have made their mark,
there is only one true Queen of metal.
Lita Ford set the standard for indepdent, talented women with a
taste for rock and roll. While bands with male leads were singing about sex and rock and roll, Lita brought sex to rock
and roll, and backed it up with straight up talent to match (and often surpass) some of the great guy rockers back in the
day. If you can tell me that watching a hot blonde playing a mean double neck guitar isn't awe-inspiring, then you must
need your metal head checked.
The best part about Lita Ford is that she is still bringing her blend
of hot, sexy, hard-driving music to an eager audience. She recently released 'Wicked Wonderland,' her first full
length CD in 14 years, and believe me when I say that the queen of metal has not missed a beat. Every track on
this record will remind the listener why Lita was crowned Queen in the first place. I can also attest to the force of
nature that Lita still is when she graces the stage. I had the pleasure of watching her perform recently while on tour
with Queensrhyche, and while the crowd was pumped for the headliner, when Lita hit the stage the crowd went insane.

As a woman who loves rock music, it gives me great pleasure to see more
and more female rock artists venturing onto the scene in recent years. I can only hope that bands such as Halestorm,
Kittie and The Donnas can fully appreciate the path that artists like the great Lita Ford have blazed to open things up for
them in the here and now. I had the honor of speaking with the Queen herself shortly before the show and we had a great
talk about her past, present and future in the rock world. To listen to our audio podcast with Lita, follow the link
