Abdandon Kansas' Latest Offering, 'Ad Astra PER Aspera' Shines

Review by Anthony Avina

In a world full of one-hit wonders and pop songs full of endless innuendos about sex, it is a true rarity to find music that challenges our intellect and cuts deep down into the core of our own humanity. By a true test of fate, that music has been found in the hit band Abandon Kansas. With the release of their second-full length album, “AD Astra PER Aspera”, this band has set a goal to prove to the world that music isn’t about sex-driven singles and party music, but about touching the very depths of the human soul.

The title of Abandon Kansas’ album itself speaks volumes about the band’s music, for the title is Latin, and means “To the Stars with Difficulties.”  Not only the band’s home state motto, the phrase provokes images of spiritual journeys through the heavens and stars, and can easily be interpreted as our need to find our place in the universe and the meaning of our lives. This is just one example of the bands' mission to tell not just a story, but to inspire with their music.

After years of touring with the likes of House of HeroesThousand Foot Krutch, and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Abandon Kansas is finally getting the recognition they truly deserve. Full of hope, passion, and inspirational lyrics, the album features such hit songs as The Golden State, Take My Lead and Wings (Fear of Heights).  Abandon Kansas has once again delivered the goods to their fans with Ad Astra PER Aspera.
